Ink for the Epson DX5
The DX5 stopped being current years ago and is still one of the most numerous heads in Indian print shops. Machines built around it are long out of production; the shops running them are not. Ink for it is a steady reorder line precisely because nobody else pays much attention to it any more.
We do not sell a machine carrying this head. We do supply the ink for it — you do not have to have bought the machine from us.
The ink
What this head takes
Two DX5 machines of the same age can be running different chemistry, because heads get replaced and shops switch ink families when they change work. We supply eco-solvent, solvent and water-based for this head — and we ask what is in it now rather than what it left the production line with.
Where it is found
Machines carrying this head
Older eco-solvent and solvent roll machines, and a long tail of sublimation and water-based builds. Most DX5 machines in service today are well past their original warranty, which changes what matters when you order: the question is no longer what the machine shipped with, but what is actually installed now.
Practice
Genuine, refurbished, or neither
The DX5 market is full of refurbished and remanufactured heads, and they are not all equal. A refurbished head can behave differently on the same ink — different back pressure tolerance, different tendency to deprime. If your machine has had a head change, that matters more to your ink order than the machine's original specification does. If you do not know which you have, say so; it is a more useful answer than a guess.
More on this in what actually kills a printhead and reading a nozzle check.
Ordering
What to tell us
- The machine make and model, and roughly its age
- Which ink family it runs today
- Whether the head has ever been replaced, and with what
- Whether you are seeing deprime or banding on the current ink
We confirm the exact ink against your head and machine before anything ships. Matching on a head name alone is how the wrong ink gets sent, and on this head that is an expensive mistake rather than a return.
What we do not claim
The figures we are not going to invent
No nozzle count, no drop volume, no service life and no comparison against a current head. This head has been out of production long enough that most published figures for it are copied from one reseller listing to another. We would rather answer what we can stand behind.
Next step
Order ink for the Epson DX5
Send the machine and the head. We confirm the chemistry and the channels before anything ships.
Ink is quoted, not listed. What a litre costs you depends on coverage, resolution and how much white you run, so tell us the machine and the volume and we will price the actual order.
